I’m excited to be the featured writer at this monthly event.
“From The Horse’s Mouth is a monthly spoken word night, for wordsmiths of all genres and levels of experience; so slammers, poets, short story tellers, singer/songwriters, rappers and muses – come and join in with our guest featured writer (a sort of ‘Malt of the Month’ that we all get to taste)”
For those who are familiar with my work, you’ll know that words are extremely important to me. I often see my songs as poems. Once written on the page, if they can’t stand alone, without music, then they’re not good enough.
Below are some of the songs I’ll be singing which resonate most with me, and hopefully with you.
Same As Letting Go
Hands try to hold the night, that wants to let us go
Arms tired, caught, entwined
Maybe holding on is the same as letting go
Every move is a move beyond the pale
We’re trying to push ourselves a little forward towards a better place
Keep on Walking
I saw a picture speak a thousand words
Without even breathing, it was revealing
A mirror that was shaped with endless curves
In a silhouetted frame that bore my name
Found Me a Canyon
Let it flow, let it be
Let your river run naturally
Push on through, pass them by
The rocks that weigh so heavily on your mind
As stoney building towered overheard
We played and laughed by the water’s edge
Pressing rocks down on the riverbed
We walked on water as we marched ahead
