Old Town Hall
A local Stamfordite, Scottish singer-songwriter Kathy Muir is the artist-in-residence at Cotto Wine Bar where she plays every Thursday (7 pm). Now working on her fourth album Kathy has found she often uses pictures in her mind’s eyes to help write her songs. So, when Kids Draw Free founderAlexander Virvo asked Kathy if she would like to have kids draw her while she would sing some songs, Kathy’s immediate reply was ‘Why don’t they draw the songs instead? I can’t draw well but I have several songs that are real stories and I used a pen and paper to help me make them “real”.

Kathy went on to explain “So before I sing a song, I could show the children my rough drawing (and I mean rough) and we could chat about the story, what’s in it and how they’d draw it. For example in Born By the Water, I sing about water and moms and trees and loon birds. So what would the kids like to draw? a big river, a little stream? brothers and sisters? summer grass or winter snow on the ground etc. It could be fun!”
So, why not bring your kids to Kids Draw Free and have some fun listening to some happy music and hopefully share some happy faces with us. And that includes you, parents!
