Location: Whitstable, England
Whitstable is world renowned for its oysters. An array of restaurant kitchens line this Kent sea shore. After attracting tourists and locals with their fresh oysters, they gather up the shells and place them in small tips dotted along the beach. It is prohibited to remove oyster shells from the town. Instead they are either collected, ground up and used to raise PH levels in acidic soils due to their containing 40% calcium plus a natural balance of nutrients. Or, they are used to help rear baby oysters: due to their weight they are placed and remain on the ocean floor, to which baby oysters then anchor themselves. Beauty on the inside and out.
