Rough Diamond Sessions

Have a listen to the latest song in the Rough Diamond Sessions. Hold On Me was written yesterday (2 March 2019). I played this song in various registers and various styles but I think this bluesy version suits the words, don’t you?

And this morning, the sun was shining through the windows and I felt the urge to sit in my bay window and enjoy the sunshine.

I really like this song from a singer’s point of view as it’s a tough one to sing well, so it’s a real challenge for me. Can you envisage a different style to the song? Are there any lyrics you like? Does the song remind you of something? I’m also thinking this song, once in the studio, could have horns and electric guitar. What do you think?

LYRICS

You say what you want, you tell me that you need me

So, hold me now never let me go

Why did it come to this, a memory for a kiss?

You’re taking me back to where I want to go

You got a hold on me, you’ve got a hold on me

Spinning circles in my mind, I’m doing whatever I can to make you mine

The days that you give me are those when I try

To chase struggles away going on in my mind

But then you say you need some time to figure it out

What is wrong with trying to let things work their own way out

You got a hold on me, you’ve got a hold on me

Spinning circles in my mind, I’m doing whatever I can to make you mine

Sometimes when I see what could be

I feel we could be something so much more

So much more than this hold on me

You got a hold on me, you got a hold on me

I’m blindsided by your love, ‘cause I just can’t get, just can’t enough

You got a hold on me, you got a hold on me

Spinning circles in my mind, I’m doing whatever, whatever I can to make you mine

You got a hold on me, you got a hold on me

You got a hold on me, you got a hold on me
