‘HUSH’ is an intimate song that explores the emotional hurdles of a long-distance relationship. It captures a tender conversation between two partners, reflecting the struggles of being apart—missing each other, feeling disconnected, and battling the challenges of different time zones. The song starts softly, like a quiet reassurance, and builds in intensity as emotions rise.
As the conversation grows more urgent, so does the music. By the end, the emotions peak with an impassioned declaration: “Baby, I love you, this love is true.” But just as the song reaches its height, it circles back to the opening words—”Hush, my little baby, everything is right“—a comforting reminder that love endures, no matter the distance.

The Creative Process
Creating ‘HUSH’ was a journey of channelling raw emotions into music. The gentle yet passionate acoustic guitar reflects the conversation’s tone—starting soft and deliberate, then growing more forceful as the feelings intensify. The final moments, where the guitar and vocals reach their emotional peak, were intentionally crafted to feel like a heartfelt plea.
The Inspiration Behind the Song
The inspiration for ‘HUSH’ came from personal experiences of being separated from loved ones and the deep need to connect. It’s about how we hold onto love even when distance threatens to pull us apart. The cyclical structure of the song—starting and ending with the same words—mirrors the continuity and strength of love, no matter the challenges.
Accessibility and Inclusivity
As with my previous song ‘Sleep This Night,’ accessibility and inclusivity remain at the heart of my work. For ‘HUSH’, I’ve collaborated again with Rebecca Withey, who has created a beautiful British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation of the song. This ensures that the song can be enjoyed and experienced by the Deaf community. Additionally, I’ve created an audio-described version of the music video, designed to make the visual storytelling accessible to those who are blind or visually impaired.
