Today, I went to buy a sandwich and came back with 14 albums for the bargain price of £20. Note to self: stop getting distracted by shop windows. Mind you, some jewels were to be had and I’m listening to one now. A 1957 vinyl record of Ella Fitzgerald at the Opera House, Chicago being played on a Dansette record player. The latest sub woofers, tweeters and ipod docks are not a patch on the sound I’m hearing right now on this mono record player where the only controls are an equaliser and a volume knob, that simply turn from left to right. Bring back Dansette Apollo record players!
