Instagram is a treasure trove of artistic delights: sketch artists, painters, photographers, arctic adventurers and more. Increasingly drawn to the array and quality of artwork, I recently discovered artist Nonye Ikegwuoha (Instagram name: Austemma) who posted an image that made me think of The Impressionists.
Intrigued, I looked through his gallery and found an eclectic mix of styles and mediums: charcoal drawings, pastels, portraits, watercolors, oil paintings. This guy has it all. I’m not the best at describing other people’s works. All I can say is that I know my own eye and was immediately drawn to his work and perhaps you too will be drawn.
Says Nonye ‘A recurring theme throughout my art is that the observer must search for and accept his humanity without being reconciled to it. There is no need for resolutions in an art piece: it is more important to tell feelings or reactions without judging the nature of our experiences. The emotional content of art must always take precedence over the aesthetic and the popular. Only the artist’s feelings and experiences count. I’ve become better over time at ignoring the obvious search for beauty in art in favor of the emotional’.
Aside from an impressive set of work on Instagram, you must visit Nonye’s gallery, particularly Sketchbook Art, which is utterly mesmerizing and thought-provoking.

You won’t be disappointed!
